Describe the bug
Automatic visibility of labels works incorrect after bunch of customization made to a map (I don't know at which stage it happened)
With automatic visibility toggled on, there are no State labels visible at all, when on maximum zoom - capital labels disappear, when on minimum zoom - only smallest labels are hidden (forts, monasteries, trade posts)
Disclaimer: Right before sending this I noticed that after customizing zoom level (allowing min zoom to be back at 1) it works correct.
After short investigation I think I know what happened: When moving map from laptop to desktop it recalculated allowed zoom range from 3.556 to 4.741. On desktop it ended in range where state labels are hidden on every (allowed) zoom level.
Now I assume that capitol label visibility works as intended (though I'm surprised why to hide them on max zoom)
Steps to reproduce
Steps for a good example with fort and capitol nearby:
- Go to area around 4900x170
- Disable Style > Labels > Toggle visibility automatically.
- State labels will appear
- Enable automatic visibility again
- Zoom out as far as possible, only Metzta fort label will disappear
- Zoom in as far as possible, Apultepec capitol label will disappear
- When you change allowed zoom levels to zoom out further, labels start to behave correct (though map readability is poor in such low zoom)
Expected behavior
Labels should gradually appear and disappear with changing zoom level. State labels should be visible on medium to low zoom.
Possible solution would be to add hard-coded percentage of min/max zoom that shows/hides specific labels.
