  • The earth continent should be provided and displayed for context
  • The camera center of rotation should be placed at the bottom of the column (top of the earth).
  • The projection should be spherical so the earth can appear as a sphere.

  • Plot 1 column through time using a heatmap chart
  • Plot a set of variables over time using a set of locations (1 cell) in 3D

For the cloud visualization, can you remind me the name of the variable that I should be loading and using?

Hi @jourdain, thanks a lot for the list!

For showing the location/coverage of clouds in 3D, please look for any of the following strings in the variable names:

• CLOUD
• AST
• ALST
• AIST (This one is for ice clouds only, so we will often see 0s near the ground and more frequent occurrences in the lev range of ~ 100hPa - 500 hPa.

Thanks for the cloud part, but I guess we'll need to discuss more on the details on how to automate the cloud visualization. But we can do that next week. Thx!

Sounds good. For now, it might be useful for me to clarify that I didn't mean to suggest in the left part of the viewport we always need to show a volume or 3D-surface rendering of clouds. For me personally,

• As long as SiteView allows me (a user) to turn on those kinds of rendering, that would be quite useful.
• Clouds are just one example of features that users might want to use volume/3D-surface rendering for. (I happen to have been obsessed with clouds in the past few years, but I can see, e.g., aerosol concentrations, being rendered that way as well.)
