Feature Request: GCP Integration

Hello, there! Thanks for building such a great library. It's people like you, who make the Ruby community awesome.

As I was going through the getting started guide, I notice that it only seem to support these 4 providers:

I want to use this gem project with GCP. Unlike other providers, GCP gives you free credits, along with access to Gemini, which in my experience leapfrogged other models.

LMK if this isn't natively support? I can help contribute.

There was previously in v0.6.3 if you want to check out that version of the gem, but the versioned docs are still a WIP as you may notice 😅

Also, if you're up for it, it shouldn't be too hard to take a look at the current v1.0.0 providers and submit your own PR of gemini or GCP vertex with other models of course.

Thank you for opening this issue and for the encouragement to contribute!

I'm using this gem in my own product and have been hoping for Gemini support as well. When I saw this issue, I decided to implement it myself — and just opened a PR: #324

The implementation uses Gemini's OpenAI-compatible API endpoint, which allowed me to inherit from OpenAI::ChatProvider and reuse most of the existing functionality. This means Gemini will automatically benefit from any future improvements to streaming, tool use, and other features in the OpenAI provider.

Supported features:

• Chat completions (both streaming and non-streaming)
• Text embeddings
• Tool use (function calling)
• Multiple API key sources (api_key in config, GEMINI_API_KEY or GOOGLE_API_KEY env vars)

Example usage:

  # config/active_agent.yml
  production:
    gemini:
      service: "Gemini"
      model: "gemini-2.0-flash"

  class MyAgent < ApplicationAgent
    generate_with :gemini, model: "gemini-2.0-flash"

    def ask
      prompt(message: params[:message])
    end
  end

I've tested this with the actual Gemini API and confirmed that chat and streaming work correctly. I'd appreciate any feedback on the implementation!
