I recently came across an interesting talk by Scott Jenson about desktop UX design, and this feature of MacOS (which was also picked up by KDE) would be a useful addition to Cinnamon:
When starting a drag-and-drop on a background window, leave that window in the background, so it is easier to drag onto a foreground window. Right now the background window always comes to the front on mouse-down, not mouse-up.
Ideally this should be configurable, in case someone absolutely hates the idea. ;)
