FOSS PTU is a student-led open source community at IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) and a local chapter of FOSS United.
Our mission is to build and sustain a strong Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) culture on campus.
From students, for students, and by students.
FOSS PTU is not just a student club — it is a student-driven ecosystem for building and maintaining open technology.
We encourage students to:
- Build and contribute to real open source software
- Maintain projects across multiple student batches
- Share knowledge and mentor others in the community
We believe students should create technology, not just consume it.
Projects within this organization are built and maintained by students of IKG-PTU.
These projects may include:
- Developer tools
- Campus infrastructure software
- Community platforms
- Learning resources and documentation

Students can contribute in many ways:
- Fixing issues (not limited to repositories in this organization)
- Improving the developer culture within PTU
- Maintaining and improving existing projects
- Proposing new ideas and building them together with the community
Open source grows through participation, collaboration, and consistency.
Our community follows the core principles of FOSS:
- Openness
- Collaboration
- Shared ownership
- Long-term sustainability
Our aim is to build a developer ecosystem at IKG-PTU that continues beyond individual batches.
