The rust port looks great! Has someone already compared the _old vs new versions for multiBamSummary and bamCoverage outputs. Are they byte-identical? Otherwise we should have some comparisons and notes in the documentation where they differ.

Hi Vivek,

Outputs are verified with the updated unit tests (which cover most of the use cases, or at least the most crucial ones).
The outputs are not byte-identical, nor is this claimed: there are quite some (minor) differences due to e.g. --exactScaling being the default (and only) option now, f64 vs f32 precision ( large scale value deviations), among others. I've created #1469 to ensure that there's a "what's new" section (before changelog.rst, but outdated) with the squash commit messages in the docs, I think that should suffice, let me know/re-open if you had something else in mind :)
