Dependabot updates currently require maintainers to perform repetitive approval and merge setup after validation succeeds. This enables the Microsoft GitHub Policy Service to handle that work for Dependabot-authored PRs targeting
main.On the single PR-opened event, the policy approves the update, adds
auto-merge, and requests a squash merge. Removing the label cancels auto-merge. Existing required checks, code-owner review, latest-push approval, resolved-thread requirements, and the merge queue remain enforced.
