[Bug]: Huge empty whitespace in the sidebar.

Steps to reproduce

Open T3 Code with tasks listed in the sidebar.
Observe the space between the upper task list and the “Settled” section.

Expected behavior

The “Settled” section should follow the upper task list without a large empty gap, allowing more tasks to remain visible.

Actual behavior

A large blank area separates the upper task list from the “Settled” section. In the attached screenshot, this gap occupies roughly half the visible sidebar and pushes the settled tasks toward the bottom of the window.

Thanks for the clear repro and screenshot — this matches current desktop/web sidebar layout, not a broken spacer.

What’s going on

Nightly 0.0.41-nightly.20260914.1707 (9375c779707f) includes #11595 (keep sparse sidebar shelves at the bottom). That change is intentional:

• When the live/pinned list does not fill the sidebar, Snoozed / Settled are pinned to the bottom of the pane (mt-auto on the first parked header, with the thread list stretched via flex-1).
• When the live list grows enough to overflow, the extra space disappears and the shelves scroll under the list as before. That is why keeping many threads unsettled “fixes” it.

The screenshot is the sparse-list case #11595 aimed for (shelves used to sit directly under the last live row; that is the “before” in that PR). Shared web/desktop sidebar only; mobile/legacy sidebar were not part of that change.

Relevant bits: apps/web/src/components/Sidebar.tsx (shelf headers), apps/web/src/components/Sidebar.drag.ts (drag previews consume the same spare space).

Triage

Not tracking this as a layout bug — the gap is doing what #11595 shipped. Recasting as UX feedback: first nightly signal that the dead zone is too large and hides live threads.

Leaving open for a product call (keep the bottom pin, revert to “follow the last row”, or only pin when the inbox is nearly empty). No further repro needed.

Ok, interesting. I was wondering if that is per design. But in that case: I would have expected that I can resize the space. Basically, I can take the line connecting settled and the toggle and pull it up or down. Do you know what I mean?

For me, I'm always trying to empty my open threads as well as I can (sometimes better, sometimes worse), and so, giving away, I don't know, it feels like more than 50% of the sidebar doesn't make any sense to me at all.
