[Android] After Tab focuses a gesture-handler Pressable that holds another, React Native's Pressables answer no tap #4629

Description

Description

On Android, once hardware-keyboard focus lands on the outer or the middle gesture-handler Pressable of the example's Nested pressables screen, a tap on the inner box of the screen's React Native Pressables does nothing, onPressIn included, while gesture-handler's own buttons keep pressing. Before any key, the same tap presses. Tab onto a gesture-handler Pressable with no gesture-handler Pressable inside it, or onto React Native's own nested Pressables, leaves taps working, and two nested gesture-handler Pressables beside a single React Native Pressable do not show it.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Render the Gist's component on Android: the example app's Nested pressables screen, with what it imports from the example app copied in.
  2. Tap the inner red box of the React Native group: it logs onPressIn, onPress and onPressOut.
  3. Press Tab (adb shell input keyevent KEYCODE_TAB) until the gesture-handler group's outer box holds focus.
  4. Tap the React Native group's inner box again: nothing is logged. Tap the gesture-handler group's inner box: it presses. Tap the React Native group's inner box once more: still nothing.

    @github-actions

    Hey @YevheniiKotyrlo! 👋

    The issue doesn't seem to contain a minimal reproduction.

    Could you provide a snack, a gist or a link to a GitHub repository that reproduces the problem?

    The body now links a Gist with the Nested pressables screen made standalone: https://gist.github.com/YevheniiKotyrlo/a158be149a3f50b8deccb7b0e4048a26

    Hi @YevheniiKotyrlo! I tried to reproduce this with your Gist on main, RN 0.88.0, an API 34 emulator and a release build, driving Tab with adb shell input keyevent KEYCODE_TAB. With focus confirmed on the outer box (and on the middle one), the React Native inner box still logs onPressIn/onPress/onPressOut every time, also in your exact order (RN inner, RNGH inner, RN inner).

    I've also tried this on my physical S24 Ultra and physical keyboard - also without success.

    Are there any more details that you could share?
