Hi @RaphaelFakhri! Thank you for submitting this PR! I'd like to explore more general solution, could you please confirm that it works and if so - introduce the changes? Both are in GestureHandler base class:
-this.tryToSendTouchEvent(event);
+event.eventType = EventTypes.MOVE;
+this.onPointerOutOfBounds(event);
-this.tryToSendTouchEvent(event);
+event.eventType = EventTypes.MOVE;
+this.onPointerOutOfBounds(event);This change also covers the other handlers, which should be a better solution 😅 |
…base handler Move the fix from `PanGestureHandler` to `GestureHandler`: `onPointerLeave` and `onPointerEnter` now mark the event as a move and pass it to `onPointerOutOfBounds`, so every handler applies the position of the move that leaves or re-enters the view. The Pan-specific overrides are no longer needed. Co-authored-by: Michał Bert <63123542+m-bert@users.noreply.github.com>

@m-bert The base class change works, and it's in the latest commit.

Hi @RaphaelFakhri! Thank you for introducing the changes ❤️
I took the liberty of merging main and changing one onPointerOutOfBounds to onPointerMove, as I've made a copy-paste mistake in my previous message 🫢 Hope you don't mind!
The fix now lives in
GestureHandler:onPointerLeaveandonPointerEntermark the event as a move and pass it toonPointerOutOfBounds, so every handler applies these moves. The Pan-specific overrides are removed. The description below explains the original Pan symptoms, which this change still fixes.Description
On web,
PointerEventManagerdispatches thepointermovethat takes a tracked pointer out of the view asonPointerLeave, and the one that brings it back asonPointerEnter.PanGestureHandlerdid not override either, so for those moves it never updated the tracker, the last coordinates or the velocity, and never checked whether to activate. As a result:onUpdatedoes not fire for the move that leaves or re-enters the view.onEndreports the last in-bounds position instead of the release position.BEGANwhose activating move lands outside the view does not activate on that move.This PR makes
PanGestureHandlerhandle the leave and enter moves like any other move: it tracks the pointer, updates the coordinates and velocity, checks activation and sends the update. WithshouldCancelWhenOutside, leaving the view still cancels the gesture as before. The shared tracking code ofonPointerMoveandonPointerOutOfBoundsmoves to a privatetrackMovehelper.Fixes #4607
Test plan
Added tests to
src/web/handlers/__tests__/PanGestureHandler.test.ts:onEndreports the release position.BEGAN.shouldCancelWhenOutside, leaving the view still cancels the gesture.Without the fix, the first three fail. With it,
yarn testpasses (23 suites, 227 tests), andyarn ts-check, ESLint and Prettier are clean.
