On 2026-07-28 requests, an unknown method (and
ping, which that version removes) now gets HTTP 404 with-32601. A body that parses as JSON but not as a known request (an unknown tool, bad arguments) is still checked against the mirrored headers andparams._metafirst, then gets-32602in a 200 response. A notification that fails to parse gets 400, and a body that is not a JSON object gets-32600with 400. 2025-11-25 requests and the flag-off path keep their current responses, including the 422s. Real clients probingserver/discoverstill fall back toinitializeon the 404. Stacked on #39695, so its commits show here until it lands. Closes DEX-84 and DEX-85.Tests: unit tests for parse failures and the raw-name header check, and new cases in both MCP datadriven files.
